Mother’s day usually consists of breakfast in bed, some flowers, perhaps a craft made by a little one…. But what to do for Dad’s special day?
If it ain’t broke…
Well firstly don’t discount the traditional old favorites, Dads are just as likely to appreciate brekkie in bed and a bunch of flowers as moms are, throw in the opportunity for a rare lie in and you’ll have one happy Daddy!
Play to his interests
Most dads just want to spend time with their families on father’s day so ditch the lavish gifts and instead focus on an experience or day out.
Is he a big kid at heart? How about a day trip to a local theme or amusement park?
Does he love to fish? Get everyone down to the water for a picnic and hopefully a catch!
Car nut? Find a car or truck show you can attend as a family.
Dad’s should be resting on Father’s day not hauling out the garbage or emptying the dishwasher, so get the kids involved and all pitch in to cover his usual duties, while he kicks back and relaxes.
Make a weekend of it
Take the celebrations up a notch, by extending them to the whole weekend. Consider getting away and taking in a new city or keep close to home with a staycation- just make sure Dad doesn’t have to stress over the driving, directions or logistics- after all, it’s supposed to be a treat.
